an early start to my second day in london - the plan was to catch a bus to ealing broadway then get the elizabeth line to tottenham court road
the bus took a while to get to ealing broadway as there were a lot of sections with no bus lane and the bus just got stuck in rush hour traffic - waiting for the elizabeth line into central london - while i was waiting the adjacent mainline platform was very busy with high speed iet through trains doing 100mph+
arrival at tottenham court road
it's easy to get lost in the cavern like network of white tunnels
the elizabeth line was very impressive - much bigger walkways than regular tubes
kin vegetarian restaurant in foley street - they serve a very good vegan breakfast
the old central london polytechnic (now university of westminster) building in riding house street
bbc broadcasting house
the northern line at tottenham court road
there was a rather annoying chugger outside russel square tube station - i could not initially hear what he was saying but it seems he was asking me how i was today and i replied 'i'm trying to cross the road' lol
they had a pretty good set of stairs at russel court tube - it's like having a free gym
the barbican - i did stop at a pub called the jugged hare for a pint of their own ale which formed my lunch for the day before heading for the city
this sculpture was very colourful - reminded me of an earth wire - it is called squiggle
it was quite interesting seeing the cantilevered base of tower 42 - the natwest tower
the 22 bishopsgate entrance had a colourful street canopy
the horizon 22 building was so high that you were viewing the roof of the natwest tower (one the tallest building in london)
view towards the shard - there are a lot of new towers on the right which i assume is the nine elms area - you can even see the buildings in croydon in the distance to the left of the shard
view to the west showing post office tower, st pauls and the barbican
view from horizon 22 looking east towards canary wharf - the roofs of the gherkin, cheesegrater and scalpal are in the foreground
the scalpal building
the cheesegrater building was very interesting - designed by richard rogers - it has all the stuff normally hidden on view such as lift workings
horizon 22 was very good and totally free - very high
the lloyds building was very impressive with the richard rogers signature industrial look
the central line was very hot - i had to go from bank to bond street
the murals on the central line platform wall at tottenham court road were very good
back at paddington - the exit from the elizabeth line to the mainline station
