arrival at paddington
edgware road underground station - after arriving at paddington i headed towards hyde park, then marble arch and along edgware road - i then walked along marylebone road which is an area i know very well when i was a student several decades ago
as it was getting quite close to lunchtime my plan was to catch the tube from regents park and head for covent garden (good for eateries) so i started off with the bakerloo line to piccadilly circus then change to the piccadilly line for the final leg to covent garden - there are some interesting lighting effects on the tube and with light levels being very low i had to use quite low shutter speeds, mainly 1/30s due to my 22 year old canon 1ds being very poor at higher iso
switching lines at piccadillly circus - bakerloo to piccadilly
for some reason i had to initially ascend then descend, i guess due to the way the concourses were laid out - the piccadilly is a lower level line than bakerloo here
the piccadilly train arrives to take me the final leg of the journey to covent garden
when i arrived at covent garden i thought i would go with the stairs rather than the lift even though it's the equivalent to 15 floors - i think it's worded to put people off using the stairs
this was a handy place to have lunch - the banana tree in covent garden - they had a deal on there you could get a meal and drink for only £10 up till 4pm - i had a noodle based dish served in a bowl with chopsticks and i also got a thai singha beer
after lunch it was a short stroll south to waterloo bridge which had a very good view of the city, shard and canary wharf
arrival at the tate modern
this was an interesting installation by sarah sze called seamless
institution vs. the mass by anna boghiguian
the blavatnik building was very impressive
there was a very good view from the millennium bridge
