arrival in london - paddington bear in peru was the train that took me there - it was a slightly longer route via bristol parkway rather than the usual route via newbury
it was a bit fiddly getting to the tube as there were works at the new tube entrance at paddington - i got the bakerloo to piccadilly circus then the piccadilly to covent garden where the stairs helped me get a good appetite for lunch at the banana tree
after lunch my plan was to do the greenwich foot tunnel so i got a 176 bus over the river to waterloo - i did not realise the 139 also would have got me there as well - once at waterloo the jubillee took me to canary wharf
once at canary wharf it was just a few yards to heron quay which took me on the dlr to island gardens
the view from the dlr was pretty good as twisted and turned around all the skyscrapers, finally arriving at island gardens, the last stop before it goes under the thames - at one time this was the end of the line
taking the stairs to descend into the greenwich foot tunnel
there were not many people in the tunnel
on arriving at the other side of the thames it was starting to get pretty dark and it was very cold and windswept
i got the dlr back to bank from the cutty sark station
the city looked very good at night - i could see the shard nicely lit up like sauron's tower
the lloyds building looked very good at night - very industrial
this is horizon 22 reflected by the back of the cheesegrater
the pavements were super busy in the city
i the picked up the circle and district from monument to get to richmond - i had just got on the first train that came along which was wimbledon so earls court is a handy place to switch if you are on the wrong train but you have to keep your wits about you as the are 2 westbound platforms to watch and you could end up somewhere like ealing if you are not vigilant
